Brick and Mortar Warehouse

Open to the Public

The Georgia Yarn Company is now listed as a limited liability company (LLC) by the Georgia Secretary of State.

There are no bricks, and the only mortar is in the foundations under the 24 X 60 foot mobile home that we use as a yarn warehouse/weaving studio. Here you will find over a ton of yarn for sale. Cotton, silk yarn & ribbon, silk fiber, linen and other fancy yarns. This is a working warehouse/studio and most of the yarn is stored in boxes and not displayed as you would find in a "real" brick and mortar yarn store. In the studio are four Macomber looms and a couple of Harrisville student looms. Being a working studio, the looms at certain times may not be dressed. This morning as I type, one loom has a transparency in progress, another has towels, and one of the HD looms is being dressed for a demo.

Hours

  I have no fixed hours but the warehouse is normally open 7 days a week from 8AM to 8PM or by appointment. Please call ahead to be certain someone will be here (706) 453-7603

Location

We are located at 4981 Penfield Rd in Penfield, GA-there is a sign out front. We are a short drive off interstate 20.

If you are traveling through the area, and would like to stop in and see us, we look forward to meeting our customers.  Please call ahead, so we can be sure to be here.  The Greene County area has Lake Oconee, and the historic downtown of Greensboro GA, with great shopping, food, and a special small town feel.  Penfield is listed on the National Historic Register as the home of Mercer University, and has pre Civil War homes, churches, and cemetery.
